Hi all,

When using the DLT7000 for backups, it chooses the compression ratio by itself.
Does anyone know based on what??

When I try to backup 74 GB of data on a 80 Gb DLT IV tape using the DLT7000, the compression ratio starts at 45% and ends up to around 22%

The system is ES40 running True64 Unix V4.0G

I think hardware compression is set at 2:1 whereas with software compression it is dependent on what the data is that is being backed up...
