DLT S-4 Reading Tapes Created in SDLT-600

Hi, does anyone know if the DLT S4 drive can read or write tapes created in a SDLT-600 drive? Quantum tech support are saying that it cant read or write where as their website says it can read created in the SDLT-600 drives.

Anyone any experience with these drive?

I have just learned & tested that the DLT S4 is backwards compatible with the SDLT600 (Super DLT Tape II) and SDLT320 (Super DLT Tape I) for read only... beware of Quantum tech support.
