Me again!!!
I have a DLT surestore tape drive on my HP netserver, I would like to make some bootable tapes with Ignite UX. DO I need to install the drive locallyon the HP machine or can I link to it on the Windows network???
????????
If I have to install it locally I know I have to use a Fast Wide Diff scsi cable, I have been looking around my system and have found this info

Hwpath Driver Description
0/7/0/0 c7220 SCSI c875fast wide differential
status
claimed
device file = /dev/rscsi/c4t7d0

Does this mean some other device is using it???

I don't think you will not be able to boot from that DLT tape drive if system dies. I don't think system will recognize dlt without driver.
DLT comes in different format, fast wide, narrow etc...
even if you have some device connected on scsi port you can daisy chain another device.
You can use remote tape drive and create bootable tape using ignite but I don't know about windows tape drive.
