When setting up the GFS scheme for 5 day incremental backup / full backup on friday.
Do I place the Friday tape in the weekly or daily media pool - if in the daily does ARCserve move the tape from the daily scratch set to the save set and then to the weekly scratch set ?
Can anyone help with this query please ?

I'm using a basic 5 day GFS scheme. Full backup on Friday which is part of the weekly pool and differential monday-thursday. no back up on Sat or Sun.

your friday (full) goes in the weekly pool. Your weekly will fall scratch after the 5th weekly backup and if you have the min number in the save set. If a tape has been formatted as a daily it will remain in that you pool unless you phyiscal move it your self with in the manager. All tapes stay within their respective pools. Also as a reminder, you must have the min number in the save set before any tape will fall scratch.

The GFS rotation system will move the tape in the correct set after the the backup is completed. What happen is that 3 sets will be created when setup of GFS. It will then move the media to the correct pool as needed. So you should NOT have to move the media manually.
