Hi,

I have the problem when removing or adding Memory to a Dynamic LPAR on
a p650 (7038-6M2) the SAP System is going down with "Signal 58".

Does anybody experienced problems like that?

My System is running at AIX 5.2 ML02 and the SAP R/3 Release is 4.0B.

Any help appreciated.
TIA
Axel

I will ask the obvious question first, what are your minimum and maximum memory allocations set at for the partition in question?

Hi,

we has had the same Prob. with AIX 5.2 and SAP Rel. 4.5.
The SAP Kernel dont know the Signal 58 (/* Reserved for Dynamic Reconfiguration Operations */) and the SAP wil Crash.
On SAP Rel. 4.7 is the Prob. fixed. Try to use the newest Kernel for your SAP, maybe it wil Work. The SIGNAL Handling is in the SAP Kernel.

Good Luck
Michael

Hi ALL,

thank you all for the help, but I now have found a SAP Note which
describes that problem I had.

The SAP Release 4.0 can work with AIX 5.2 DLPAR Options, but you need
the appropriate PatchSet for that Kernel. My PatchSet was to old.

Here the SAP Note Number for everyone else experiencing a Problem like
that:
569569

The Note describes the required SAP Kernel Patches one needs for
DLPAR,
starting with SAP Kernel 3.1I and up to SAP Kernel 6.20.

Regards
Axel
