Hi

I am trying to establish if an entry on a form exists in an existing table. Then if it does not exist ask the user if they want to add it.

I can write the code to add the record if required, but I am not sure how to do the validation. I was thinking of possibly using the dLookup function, but don't fully understand the function and its syntax.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Barney

This is a very common problem and you will find numerous threads and at least one FAQ:
DLookup Function Examples
faq705-4978

Domain aggregate functions require roughly the same input, this thread explains the format:
D Count Problem
thread705-1207225

Another way is to play with the NotInList event of a ComboBox control.

Hope This Helps, PH.
