dlink router problem. ! Help

I am trying to add a static ip address to my machines.I have a dlink router along with a westell wirespeed modem.I am relatively new at this. I have an ideal but need a little help. Could someone tell me from top to bottom the proper sequence that I need to perform. I need simple illustrations to this problem. I do have the gateway number static ip and subnet mask. Thanks to anyone who will help.
