I am attempting setup OWA to Exchange 2k (on and SBS 2K Server) over a DLINK DSL500 Router.
I can access OWA from within the LAN but not from a remote client outside the Lan, so presumably Win2k/Exchange/OWA are setup correctly.
I think my problem lies with the setup of my router.
Although I realise there may be many ways to achieve this - I need some advice on the best way to setup the router.
i.e DMZ or Port Forwarding or other way.
I have been subscribed 2 IP addees by my ISP, one that is pointing at the router and the other spare ?
If I port forward, what IP address do I use.... I am currently port forwarding SMTP Port 25 for mail to the IP address of the ethernet card which is connected to my router 192.XXX.XXX.XXX and that works fine. I also have another LAN Card for the internal network on 10.0.0.2. What Ports do I open to allow OWA access and do I point them at the same IP?
or am I better to create a DMZ, if so what is the best solution.
This is only lab at home so I am not too worried about security, but I would need to utilise SSL if I go live with the real thing.
I would be grateful for any pointers.
Yours hopefully
