Hi,

Got the following equipment:-

1 x D-Link DSL604+ Wireless Modem/Router
2 x Belkin F5D6050 Wireless USB Network Adapter
PC is a Dell Dimension 8250
Windows XP Home - Fully Patched

Issue:-

Having had it working with the drivers from the CD, I've updated them from the internet (as you may guess, it was fully working but with low signal strength).

I thought that the latest drivers would allow me to get a better signal strength, I'm only 30 feet away from the D-Link but it still says low signal! There is only 1 wall in the way!

However, once the new drivers are on, I now cannot get it to attach to the network, the system keeps telling me that the cable is not connected !!!!

I've tried to remove all the drivers and reinstall from the CD but this still doesn't work.

I've factory reset the D-Link device so that it's back to being out of the box, so I can reconfigure it again but still fail to connect!

Anybody got anything I can try or can explain how to remove ALL the files that the Belkin device uses so I can start again?

I've mailled euro support and am waiting a response from them!

Thanks for any and all responses.

Cheers,
Carl.

Use Device Manger under XP and roll-back the drivers for the Belkin adapter.

If I had to guess as to the source of the problem, it would be that the Belkin card is not a very good adapter for your setting. Return it to the store and try a different brand; Orinoco sounds like a better fit for your needs.

It appears that my D-Link device is faulty, having found another forum, it seems this may be a common problem so will look at getting a replacement product!

Cheers,
Carl.

Hi,

Sorted, replace the box for a brand new one!

Brill....works a treat!

Cheers,
Carl.
