Greetings,
I have a customer with DLC operator. In addition to direct line appearances for each CO line (approximately ten loop-start COs) she has four SA buttons and one SA OO. They use PARK function regularly. Until recently, when an outside call arrived, she would PARK the call - and the associated SA button would become available. Now when a call is PARKED the SA will remain in use. The PARK works fine and calls can be retrieved from PARK. The trouble is that, when busy, she runs out of SA buttons. I know that I can add additional SA buttons to the phone, however this worked for years. Only "change" is a power outage. No other programming appears to have been affected... So - is there a way to PARK a call and have the original SA button clear?

Hopefully, their AUTO BACK UP is set for weekly.

If so, I suggest that you:

A - Double check the dates on the Auto Back files

- then (If you find one from the weekend of March 1) -

B - Do a SYSTEM ERASE

- then -

C - Restore the Auto Back file from March 1

If that fails, you are most likely looking at a new processor.

Hi Merlinman -

Thanks. Are you confirming that the SA button SHOULD clear once a call has been parked? And that there is no configuration that would control this operation? Is there something magic (not to be confused with Magix) about March 1 date or are you just going back a week? FYI this is Magix R3 processor. If no backup, how about delete operator and re-create? We didn't install. I know that I have a manual backup via SPM to disk from a couple of weeks ago...

Well, If you don't have a FLASH CARD back up, then certainly your FILE BACK UP should suffice. Provided of course, that no major changes were made in the mean time.

And, YES, I was going back in time to March 1 'cause that would have been a known good back up. (near as I can tell)

Although "thinkin' won't get it, you gotta know!", I think that is the correct operation of the SA buttons and park codes. I just had a customer that converted from loop start lines to T1 service and DNIS. The operator would receive calls on her SA buttons and just put them on hold. People using Pickup and the operator's extension number would get the wrong call, based on how many calls were on hold and ringing at the time they used pickup. We got her to use the Park button on the DSS, and noticed that the SA continues to flash while the call is parked, but pickup and the operator's extension number did NOT retreive those calls, only pickup and the park number.

Now that I've set this up in my shop, I realize the core trouble is that CO calls are ringing on SA buttons, even though there are direct line appearances. So that's the trouble I need to resolve...

Just a note on the final resolution here. The customer has the option of using a full-time auto attend that they activate and deactivate at will using night mode for operator extension. When auto attend is active and caller dials 0 for operator, call lands on an SA key even though there is also a direct line appearance. This is what causes all SA keys to become full. IF operator answers these calls by pressing the direct line appearance, then SA key is not used and no congestion. Even though they insist that this situation started with a power outage, I think that they're just busier than before. They have also implemented centralized paging - so anyone who wants an overhead page calls the operator. She's just a busy gal...

It could be that the DIAL ZERO TIME OUT is set to OPERATOR, you could change that to 768 and then it will ring back to the LINE.

-OR-

You could add more SA buttons to her phone up to a total of 10.

Does this help?

Also, look into CAMP ON.

It can do some neat tricks as well.
