10 years ago or so nortel came out with a beta trial on 24 port station cards but never made then a general rls due to crosstalk being short of the fed 24 db limit.. i've never saw one but at the time was keeping my fingers crossed with everyone else.. always seems logical to add 25 percent to each card instead of adding new ipe's.. congrats, you've got a rare card, not a babe ruth rookie but seldom seen

It has the same part number as my other digital line cards with 16 ports though. Unless they put out Beta's with the same part number as production 16 port cards.

They do list that card as having 16 data ports on it in addition to the 16 digital lines. I could have sworn you weren't permitted to put a station on a data port though.

What's weird though is my other identical dlc's don't report the same way.

I must be a weird stuff magnet. I find all the weird things. I just got to call Xerox yesterday for some faulty programming in one of their big multi-function copiers. They never knew it had that problem.

One option would be to do an IDC on the card that shows 24 ports and one that only shows 16. Ask your vendor what the difference is between the two. The cards will have extra data that could be relevant. For example:

Code:
.IDC 6

 => NT8D02GA  07 NNTM60G5PC25 0000

.IDC 7

 => NT8D02GA  04 NNTM60G1ZB5G 0000

.IDC 8

 => NT8D02GA  04 NNTM60G1ZB7W 0000

I am not sure if the trailing data would help, but it might lead to an answer, and like John says, you might just be lucky. BTW, did you run cross connect to that "TN" and see if the phone works? It would be the violet/brown pair on your tail cable.

we're both wondering about that. does that set actually talk? and your right you can't copy a voice port to a data port. i don't know the part number of the 24 but have talked to a tech that was on the site of the 1st usa trial. i want to say post office KC, Kansas.. let us know if the free ports talk.. i had a wierd one recently, bought several laptops as gifts for my grandkids. three were sent to alabama, to make it short, two wouldn't network, two wireless nic;s with the same mac... way to go dell

No such luck. It doesn't work.

Although, it does come in handy for my other problem with two SCR keys setup for a DN that isn't a physical phone. Now I have a 2616 configured on that port and the two lines ring perfect, with the third caller going to vmail.

BTW. IDC doesn't work right as I'm using hyperterm. Weird characters are printed.

Thanks,
Buster

if your on 8 none and one on dyper-term, try 7 even and space. sometimes is that software, that's all it takes. bad news is when those sets disu those forwards are also broke

It has to do with building the first port on the card as EDLC or XDLC in the CTYP prompt.

XDLC is the default 16 ports
EDLC is the 24 port card

For the sake of correct programming, you should reprogram the card with CTYP = XDLC. Most likely you're being charged for 8 extra spare ports in your maintenance contract.
