On a DL380G4 I have 3 PCI Serial cards plugged into the riser board, with 6 serial modems plugged into them (backup dialing for pagers). All was working well, until last Friday when I was off. The C: drive is fairly full (about to replace server - a couple months off). But another employee decided to "compress" the C: drive partition - UGHH!! Upon discovering the modem failures, he "uncompressed" the partition - double UGHH! Then on Sunday another person decided to install all latest Windows updates.
Upon my return yesterday I did everything I can think of - swapping riser boards from another G4, changing serial cards, etc. In each instance, the serial cards are recognized, but never a modem that gets attached to it. If I take any of those modems and plug into the onboard COM1, seen and working in Device Manager.
Being that I swapped boards, installed all latest drivers (HP and serial cards), thinking it's gotta be a Windows issue most likely due to the "compression" (initial error happened right after). Any thoughts on how to revive?
