Hi All,

I have a DL380 G4 with a HP 14 Bay Rack Mount Drive Enclosure, connected via a SCSI Controller card with single 68pin SCSI interface. Is it possible add another 14 Bay Rack Mount Drive to the same G4 or do I need a new server?

Thanks.

You may need to purchase an additional PCI SCSI (RAID?) card to attach the 2nd drive cage to, but apart from that I cannot think of any reason why you cannot run the 2nd drive cage off the server.

A better option may be to get a fibre card for the server and get an MSA1000. That way, you can have the 14 drives in the MSA1000 and have it control those drives and hang two expansion shelves off of it if you wish. Just a thought, but Lad is correct. Just a regular diff scsi card.
