On my DL380 I have 1 74gb scsi hardrive for the OS. I'm using this server as file server on gigabit switch. I already have a 320gb SATA harddrive running on a Silicon controller (add on pci).

Now I need more space. Since I dont have another SATA drive my plan was to add a leftover 300gb IDE harddrive. I'm not seeing the drive. I also read on another TEK TIP post that the IDE port does not work. I know I mite have a firmware issue with harddrive limitations (on a 300gb hd), but shouldnt the board at least detect the harddrive? How do I get the IDE port on the mainboard to work? What if I want to install an additional DVD burner on the IDE port to back up files?
