We are currently running seven DL360 servers with Citrix Metaframe 1.8 NT4. They have been running for about a year now, but are starting to have two specific hardware failures.

Firstly, the PSU fans. When they fail the server shuts down.

Secondly, the discs. We are experiencing about one disc failure every month.

Has anyone else experienced these problems???

I also run about 6 of those servers and have the same problem with the fans. In the last six months compaq has replaced all the fans in each of the servers about twice. I'm fighting with their management about that right now.

Personally, I think those servers are duds. I don't order them anymore. I'm about to install DL380s.

I have 6 of these in a stack and I have concerns about the heat buildup in them. This is likely the cause of the problems as they are not ventilated very well.

Compaq have apparently admitted there is a problem with the fan units on the PSU. If you have 20 or more DL360s then they will arrange to replace them in one go. If less than 20 then they will replace them as the break down. You need to ensure the replacement PSU is Rev.09 or higher.

Not too sure about the discs. I am about to go through the process of upgrading all ROMPAQs and drivers. I'll keep you posted.

I have about 12 of these servers so far and have replaced the powersupply in each one at least 2 times now due to fan failures! I now have 6 spare powersupplies on hand just in case! However I have 4 of the new g2 models and have as of yet not had a failure. Maybe they resolved it with the new model....

Hey, I would put the disk failures down to the heat problem. That amount in that time seems rough, but since you are mentioning heat problems, could be why! -----------------------------------------------------
