I was extracting a SUBroutine from my main program to it's own file with wordpad. For some reason, when I open the new file, I get a "Division by zero" error right away. I'm not sure why. There is absolutely no division anywhere in the program. What could be causing this?

Looks like you save your program in Word format.
For QBasic, it must be in "MS-DOS Text" format.
So, never use "Save" for sources - only "Save as..." and proper format
