hi, ive got 2 areas(room) connected to my proxy server
is it possible that i can control the connection of the
web service so that i can switch off the other room and
switch on the 2nd one?

in squid you can define the 2 areas with acl's and then just reconfigure the system when you want to change the group ...

are they on different netmasks, or networks?

hardest bit would be if you had an agressive DHCP server that didn't remember connection IP's ...

they are in the same netmask/network
i was thinking of putting another NIC's
so that i can disable one of them if needed

well another way of doing it would be to have 2 proxy servers, or server daemons.

squid can run on the same machine at different ports with different configurations. you could set up 1 room to talk to one specific port and set up the other to talk to the other, then turn the daemons on and off manually to control which room is active.

this will allow you to control them even if DHCP changes their IP addresses ... downside is that a person in a room could modify their proxy settings to allow them to access the web via the other proxy daemon.
