Divided Messages

I have a quick question.&nbsp;&nbsp;You have four different locations (lets say Indiana, Texas, California, and Maine) and a central hub (Exchange Server, Illinois)&nbsp;&nbsp;All are within the same company and are using Outlook.&nbsp;&nbsp;My question is this, if one person sends an email (lets say Jane from Texas) to Bob, Tom, and Ruth each in a different location(not a distribution list, is one message sent to the central hub and then divided into three seperate messages, or does it send three messages to the server, which then sends it to the recipients?? <br>Thanks for your time and I hope this makes sense. <br>Kevin

MS Exchange only keeps one copy of the E-mail on each IS. That means that Exchange will only point to the e-mail if users are at the same server, otherwise it will send the mail to the other servers to.<br><br>Regards<br><br>Lars

Thanks...So does that also apply to let say that each location is a post office and there is a hub post office.&nbsp;&nbsp;Does that sending post office divide the message into three different messages when it sends it to the hub or does the hub do that, being that they go to different post offices.&nbsp;&nbsp;<br>I hope this makes sense...<br>Thanks

The central postoffice will send a copy to each destination server. Only one copy will be sent, even if two users will receive the e-mail. This applies to attachments too, only one copy is stored.<br><br>Regards<br><br>Lars<br>
