I wonder if anyone knows if it's possible to set an extensions incoming external calls to divert to a shared number. I know that by dialling #*91 then the shared number code from the extension you can divert all calls to it but I wondered if you could set it through the MMI to just transfer the external ones ? When you go to revise the forward conditions normally through the MMI you have the option to choose between external and internal. Any advice apreciated.

Yes, it is possible to divert an extension to an external number via MMI.
You can use the commands RFD or RID to set the forwarding. Note that RID will be the equivalent to an ADP diversion as it will be immediate. If your software is pre 6.2 then only RFD is allowed. If you are unable to set the diversion due to software level, set network validation to 1, SNVL 1.

The problem I have is I don't know what digits to enter for the shared number. For example my mobile is shared number to dial it you can dial #6151. To divert all calls you can dial #*91 151 at the handset. When using RFD it is asking which extension you want to divert to...same with RID.

RID
FROM EXTN: Forwarding extension number.
TO EXTN: Destination number. internal/external
EXT?: Y to forward ext calls immediately, otherwise N.
INT?: Y to forward int calls immediately, otherwise N.
Followed by a space and I or E, see note).

Note: When setting a diversion, an extra parameter of I or E can be appended to declare the divertee to be internal (to the network) or external respectively. This is applicaable to RFD also. This parameter is not prompted

This is the equvialent to setting the network valation level.

The parameter "To extn" can be an external number, the destination digits must contain a trunk access code. If you use the command LSAB 151, this wll give you the digits you require including the trunk acces code.

eg rid 4000 0xxxxxxxxxx n y e

4000 = Forwarding extension
0 = trunk access code
xxxxxxx = destination digits
n = do not divert internal calls
y = divert external calls
e = implies destination is external.

Hope this helps.
