Question applys to BCM50, but I figured the question would also apply to Norstar.

Is there a function to divert an incoming call directly into voicemail without answering?

Example: Customer phone is ringing, they see a Caller they don't want to speak to, they would like to press a single button and the call goes directly into their voicemail.

I have programmed F986, but unless the phone is actually answered it won't transfer. It just says "no party to connect"

Is this possible?

Thank you.

If the caller is going through an Auto-attendant, if your AA supports it, you can setup screened transferes. This "forces" the caller to announce his/her name when going to your extension.

The caller then hears your MOH (if it is setup). When your phone rings, you hear "You have a call from <so-n-so>". If you do not accept the call, it goes into your voicemail.

Since your phone isn't "ringing" on the other end (the MOH is playing), the caller on the other end doesn't know that you don't want to talk to him/her...
