I have a 3300 cx running 10.0 there are 2 departments inside the office and users continually dial the 800 number to get to the other department rather than dialing the internal extension.

Is there a way to divert the 800 number to the internal extension when the 800 number is dialed. I thought about setting this up as a speec call first but s/c will only let you use 7 digits.

use a digit mod???

strip 3 insert xxxxxxxx

configure ars as needed

Not easily.

The issue being that there are 800 #'s that need to be sent the normal route and the user is dialing 9+1-800xxx or the equivelent.

This means that the user dialed digits need to be sent out a trunk and cannot easily be diverted to an internal number.

The simplest solution would be to modify the system so that dialing the 800 number is restricted (not allowed) to force the user to dial the appropriate number.

If that option does not appeal, then you need to create some form of loopback trunk where the trunk outbound is connected back into the Mitel (Mitel sends and receives the same digits)

Easiest method of loopback is to connect an analog trunk (outbound loop) to an analog station (inbound loop). the digits dialed can be manipulated at the ars level so that as far as the mitel is concerned the analog station simply goes offhook and diales the internal number. Caveats: only 1 call per loop back trunk and trunk release can be an issue.

more complicated loopback involves IP trunking that avoids the caveates of analog loopback. This method has a how to section in the helpfiles. Search term = loopback.

Enter the toll free number in system speed call with the toll free number as the Speed Call Number (918001234567) and the internal extension as the Actual Number.

SXwizard, how do you get around the 7 digit maximum for system speeddial (rhetorical question)

You don't. won't work.

Are you using Class of Restriction (toll control) to limit ARS dialing (local, long distance) for any extensions? If not, you could use the Intercept Handling form. Point the 800 number to a new route that uses the same programming as your normal calls and then apply toll control (COR) to the extensions and route so that they would normally get reorder tone (toll denied) when trying to call the 800 number that points to this new route. In the Intercept Handling form (extensions normally default to instance 1) enter the extension number you want the call to go to in the Default Value field for Toll Deny - Route Digits. Then, when the call is denied it will go to the internal extension.

SxWizard, Creative and a method that did not occur to me. There would probably be calls redirected via Toll Deny that we would not want to redirect but it would work.

My preference is to educate the user by blocking the call when they don't dial the internal digits. Better for everyone.
