hello there
i need to package my Java Application and want to distribute it. how do i do it without the need of jdk on the running machine.

As far as I'm aware the running machine has to have at least a version of the JRE installed. And then I think the main way of packaging and distributing java apps is using jar files.

As far as I know Tardigrade is right. But I just heard somewhere that Microsoft has a tool that will convert a class file (possibly any supporting classes too) into an exe file. This may be exactly what you need.

It would be on microsoft's site somewhere in their java section of the site?!

Symantec VisualCafe has a way of creating exe files from Java files. You can download version 4.1 free (although it's 108mb!!) from I've used it before and it works rather well!
