Can anyone tell me where Distribution lists are saved within Exchange Server5.5? I need to restore a distribution list but am not sure exactly where to look.

Thanks

A distribution list is treated as custom recipient by exchange. It will therefore be in your Directory Database but not in the information store as it does not store any mail. It just redirects the mail to the relevant mailboxes.
In other words, you can regain mail sent to a DL through restore but you can restore it by restoring the directory. Bear in mind that restoring the directory will restore the whole of it and any changes to the directory since the backup will be lost.
It is easier to just recreate the DL if you have a list of the members.
Good Luck.

Sorry,
A typo there! I meant you CANNOT regain mail sent to the DL.
