OK,

I have an Ex2K box that had several domain local distribution lists set up. This past weekend, I did a Service Pack 3 upgrade to Exchange and eseutil /d to the private store (not public). Reduced database size by almost 50%.

Today I have a user contact me and tell me the distribution list she normally uses is not working. The list shows in the GAL, you can select it, modify members, send mail with it, but no one on the list ever gets the mail.

So, I created a new DL list and added myself to the members, sent mail to the list and...

No mail shows up. It is not in the queue, not in the outbox and certainly not in the inbox. I get no NDR, nothing. It just goes into email world and disappears off the face of the motherboard.

I have checked all the normal stuff (filters, options for email in Outlook, etc.), so now I post to the masses looking for some clue as what to do next.

Any ideas?

Exchange 2k SP3
Windows 2k adv. SP3
Outlook 2K and XP clients

Thank God! I thought I was the only one seeing this! I'm setting up a new E2K server and have SP3 installed as well. I am able to get my local domain users to receive email, but not my external users I have included as contacts. However if I use the "send mail" utility from AD to send mail to the DL, mail is received both by my internal users and my external contacts???? If I come up with something I'll let you know.

Well, since this original post I have moved on to another company, so it is no longer my problem. But I have been having similar issues at my new company with permissions related to DL. Anyway, I was able to get them working again by assigning a new GUID.

I used this Q article and it is now working good.

Hope it helps.
