Distribution Group Rules

Does anyone know of a way to assign rules to distribution groups in Exchange 2000? What I need to be able to do is moderate an internal distribution list so that mail from some people goes directly through, while mail from others get queued so that it can be cleared before it continues on to the list. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

We have a Staff distribution group, to which currently anyone can send an email. Management would like to have these messages approved before they are received by all our users, unless the email comes from the Tech team, or management. What I'm trying to figure out is if there is a way to set rules (much the same way you do in Outlook), or apply 'if' statements to a distribution group.

The ability to send to a distribution group is controlled by an ACL, which means permissions. You can allow or deny users or groups the abiltity to send to a specific distribution group.

It seems you need a little more logic than simple permissions. You may want to try a moderated public folder. Send mail to the moderated public folder, and with folder agents, a specific list of senders are automatically distributed, and all others are sent to the moderator to be approved or rejected. Moderated public folders are nothing new, they've been around since 5.5. If that doesn't meet your needs, you may want to try your hand at workflow designer, or shop around for a workflow application that meets your needs.

Thanks for your help xmsre .... I kind of figured I'd end up with Public Folders, but was hoping for something a little more transparent to the end user. Ah well ... Thanks.

If you give the public folder an SMTP address, the end user sends to the public folder just like they would a disribution group. The folder agent approves or sends to the moderator. When approved, another agent sendt to the real distribution group.
