Hello,
sorry of this is a v. basic question, but I'm a relative newbie, and am trying to understand how CR works. I have created several reports using CR 10, and now want to distribute these reports to several people (about 50 ) in the organization , so that they can fire reports as and when they require them. Do all these end users need to have CR 10 on their machines as well to be able to run these reports, or is there some CR viewer avalable, wherin the users can run reports, but will not be able to view the design?

Do you have Developer Edition or just professional.

I have just the professional version. I have created these reports simply by specifying some SQL queries against an Oracle DB and adding some formatting logic and a few paramaters there.
What are the options for ppl. in my organization to run these reports and obtain the most current data? Do they neeed CR profssional as well? or can they run reports through an HTML page without having CR intalled on their machines? Or is there any other method?

You can also purchase Crystal Reports Server:
At $7,500 for the entry-level package: Five concurrent access licenses (CAL) for end users to view reports over the web, it is more expensive than the 3rd-party viewers but it also removes the need for installing a viewer on each PC.

Visual CUT & DataLink Viewer:
view, e-mail, export, burst, distribute, and schedule Crystal Reports.

ssim78,

Report compilation and distribution went away starting with crystal 9. As Ido mentioned, crystal reports server is Business object's entry level solution, starting at $7,500.

The alternatives are buying crystal report viewers like the ones listed in the link provided on Ken Hamady's website, or you can buy each viewer a copy of CR v10 (dangerous because they could then modify the report structure, formulas and other logic), or you could develop your own application to let the users run a crystal report.

So all in all I'd recommend a viewer. Datalink viewer is my favorite. You might also look at Visual CUT which allows you to schedule, burst and email crystal reports.

The links to both are on Ken Hamady's website listed above.
