Hi,

Our webserver and database reside on different servers in the same LAN. For the past couple of days on pages that have the directive @Transaction=REQUIRED we have been getting the error

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '8004d00a'

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Distributed transaction error

This error happens right when connection to the DSN is opened.

The ping between the two servers is working fine. When I look inside MTS, I can see the active transactions go up by 1 on the webserver but not on the database server.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Thanks,
Shweta

I'm having the same problem - about once every two months or so. I'm listening to see if someone else has an answer!

Solution:

-Go to Administrative Tools -> Component Services
-Right click on "My Computer"
-Select MSDTC tab.
-Click on the "Security Configuration" Button.
-check the "Network DTC Access checkbox
-finally, check "No Authentication Required" option button
or "Incoming Caller Authentication required" option button.

hope this will fix your issue.
