hi

plans are to install series 7 products are reportnet on different servers.

IIS, Upfront on one server (gateway), Impromptu, PPES, ReportNet on their own servers.

question is how to connect differnt servers together with upfront...

which products needs to be installed on which servers.

thanks,
sudhi

Don't know about ReportNet but for series 7 You will need to install gateways for all cognos products on the same IIS server. Then you can install IWR, PPES dispatchers and report servers on seperate servers.

Reportnet is totally seperate from Upfront, so no worries there. IF you are planning on using the feature that can display Upfront content in the ReportNet portal, then you will have to make sure of two, well three, things:

1- ReportNet uses the same authentication source as Upfront.
2- The documentation on how to set up the Upfront integration has been followed to the T.
3- The ReportNet server can actually ping the Upfront server.

thanks for your replies.

our plan is to have a common portal where the users connect. Powerplay, Impromptu and Reportnet servers will be separate.

i want to know, what are the software (products on which servers) to install on each servers (portal, powerplay, imp and crn). how to set the configurations on each of them to talk to each other, since we'll have drill through from one to another.

i am just exploring the reportnet, beginer. dont know much how it works, how to set up etc. the common authentication for both, i tested. but from Flex's 2nd point "the documentaion... followed to the T" means,,,

thanks,
sudhi
