Hi

I'm trying to find out how to distribute a DB over two servers, does any one know if this is a big task?

Any recomended reading would help?

Thanks

What is your purpose in 'distributing' the DB? Please give more details.

You could use replication to make (some of) your data available on the other server. Is this what you need?

One server will be in HQ, the other will be in an area that salesmen are operating in. The sales men need access to certain data while on the road so some tables will be on the sales server and the rest on the HQ server.

The servers are 200 miles apart and connection between them is slow. I dont want the salemen waiting long periods for queries to run on the HQ server if it can be done quicker on a closer server.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

As TheBugSlayer says, read up on replication in Books Online. This is exactly the kind of situation that it is intended for.

Thanks James, will do

I dont know a lot about replication, just thought it pushed a full DB copy out and synchronised the copies. Will read more though.
