Hi Jaboc,
I've been doing many of these installations for customers. One had 40 IBM machines left wich we turned into DSS/RMON Token Ring probes and later when they migrated to Eth we rebuilded the probes with new NIC's
Building it yourself is not a real problem. I do it now almost weekly for my classroom setup on different types of machines using images.
Just read the specs and make sure your hardware is up to the job and buy the right NIC's as monitor cards.
