I am distributing a report with a subreport. An excel report is the subreport. It's asking me for a password to access the Excel database but there is no password. I want to distribute this report but I can't until I get past this password issue. This excel report is provided by an outside source. Please help!!!

Thanks.

Well, have you *ever* gotten access to this data through crystal? If so, how did it work then?

Did you already convert it to an ODBC source? Or are you trying to link directly?

And which versions are you using of Excel and Crystal?

Hi, yes I can access this report through crystal but to view it though the enterprise, asks for password. Yes, already set to ODBC. I'm using 8.5 Crystal Reports and Excel 2000. Any ideas, suggestions?

Thanks,

Tom

Sounds like there may be a network permissions issue. Talk to the network folks and see if they can set permissions up so that the report (engine, server??) has full permissions on the Excell spreadsheet. If there is a general read only permission it will seem to be fine in report development, but it is possible that the report needs read/write permissions to run it as a subreport. Definitely consult with a network support person who handles permissions on the network.
