i think you mean distorted - otherwise the text in this post looks distortioned to me...
is all the text distorted in the same way - i.e. is all the text too tall or too wide or all have a weird effect?
Check your Window (menu) / Character palette to see that all the settings are correct before you proceed with keying any text
