Distinctive ring - target line over E&M

We have 2 MICS - 7.0 @ corporate, and 6.1MR3 @ the warehouse, and 2 T1's (NON-PRI).

All sets at both locations have direct-dial phone numbers, whose last 4 digits match their extension.

When the warehouse calls me (for example), the ring is identical to when someone calls my direct-dial number.

What I'd like to do is have a distinctive-ring for when the warehouse calls vs when someone is calling me directly.

Since we do not have PRI, we do not have caller ID.

I changed the 4 voice channels at corporate that communicate with the warehouse (lines 051-054) to have a distinctive ring. During testing, the phone had the default ring

It appears that the distinctive ring will only work with target lines if the target line is the line that has the distinctive ring, and not the channel that it comes in over the T1 (which defeats the purpose of trying to distinguish a warehouse vs direct-dial call).

Outside of adding a second target line with different received digits, is there a way to accomplish this?

Thanks

Sounds like your going to have to look at the display when you receive a call. Label the E&M or DID trunks and that should do it.

i believe if you actually assign them to appear "waste of 4 buttons" when they dial your extension you will then get the distictive ring you assigned

Appear & ring was a good thought... the 4 lines just appeared on our "console". I changed them to appear & ring, but no dice.

As far as looking at the display -- there is no caller ID.

What shows on the display when you receive a call over the E&M lines? I'm guessing on this, but if you label the E&M trunks for instance Warehse1, Warehse2, etc., you then know where the call is coming from.

Nothing shows on the display when a call comes in from the warehouse. If I push F811, it'll show the target line number.

The 4 lines going to/from the warehouse are setup as auto-answer, answer with DISA N.

Several months ago, I had asked about caller ID over a T1 setup as an E&M, but have since found out that it is not possible.

you could set one of your DID/Target lines to ring a hunt group then assign distinctive ring to that hunt group, assign telephone sets on a ring only basis if you don't want to use up a button on the telephone set.

jerryreeve,

Unfortunately, that won't work. Every extension between the any of the extensions at the other site.

Now, as an alternative to paging, I did setup a broadcast hunt group at our warehouse that has a distinctive ring (and kind of freaks some of the people out there, because their display says SOMEONE callling)... :)

I was thinking you were looking at your calls only (make up a new number just for these calls to be the Target line/hunt number)

since you already have a T1 between the sites can be set up as a private network using MCDN or APN MCDN will give you name control and transfer featrues, If you are interested check out the SOG for MICS 6.0 or later.
