distinct expression in cognos

how do i specify a distinct value in cognos (without using a sql expression)? the help files specify a 'distinct component' but it is not listed in available components.

In the Filter dialog box, select Eliminate Duplicate Rows.

You also have the Distinct operator available in many cases in the Expression Builder, typically when using summary functions.
