I am much more familiar with doing reports in Crystal, so bear with me;
I am trying to do a report in MSAccess on a table that holds machine start/stop information for each day. In most cases a machine is started in the morning and stopped in the evening so I only get 1 record per machine, per day. Sometimes though, a machine is stopped and started more than once a day and in this case I end up with multiple records per machine, per day.
I have a report that groups and subtotals by month/day - for averages and totals I need to know how many days a machine was used in a given month, but if I count the days I get inflated numbers if the machine was started and stopped multiple times on a single day.
Is there a way to do a distinct count function?
