Distinct Count on Non-Numeric

How do you use Distinct Count on a text field? So far I have tried Calculated Members and even changing the Source Column of the Measure to Distinct "..." which makes the cube Processing fail.

I would really like to stay away from modifying the base tables because that would affect the ETL.

I think it needs to be an MDX statement, but where and how?

Any help would be appreciated...

Hi Scott,

What program are you using to build/analyze your cubes? Is there a 'measure' or 'count' function in the analysis software? From what I'm hearing, you want a count of all text feilds of the same value, and this should be an included function in your cube viewer. If not, perhaps consider other software products.
