The Pagemaker file that I am trying to convert to PDF originally had the Futura HVBT font and when I open the Pagemaker doc. I get the message "Missing font is Futura HVBT, substituted font is Century Gothic.

I am trying to convert a Pagemaker file (I am using 6.5) to a PDF file. I have Adobe 5.0.
The Distiller pauses and when I scroll I see a message "Century Gothic not found, Using Courier. Error-Invalid font. Offending command.

If I change and save the font as Courier New, the Distiller pauses and gives the message "The Distiller has not created the PDF fil. Pleasesee log file for details."

Hi, neimanmachinery,

(I am using 6.5)
There's lots of minor updates at:
including a revised ExportPDF macro.

I have Adobe 5.0.
You mean Adobe ACROBAT 5 and DISTILLER 5?
Have you updated to Acrobat 5.0.5?

Which version of Windows are you using?
See: Support Policy for PageMaker 6.5 and 7.x in Windows XP

Are you using PM's Export… AdobePDF… or the two stage Print and Distill process?
See: General procedure for PDF creation

Otherwise:

Prior to printing in PageMaker, you will have to make some settings to your printer properties via the control panel.

Go to Start>Settings>Printer

Right click the PostScript driver you are using, and go to Properties.

Where you find the following settings may vary from driver to driver, but you'll probably need to click an "Advanced Settings" button then a "Fonts" tab. (For example on my PS-clone Lexmark, I click the "Advanced" tab, then the "Printing Defaults" button, then the "Fonts" tab...you may have to poke around to find where to make these settings)

In the True Type Fonts box, set "Send to printer as" to OUTLINES.

Under font substitution table, set "download as soft font" for all true type fonts.

Iechyd da! John.
