Despite the table being in the correct order DoCmd.GoToRecord , , acFirst does not display the first record. Can anyone tell me how to make the command work correctly, please? I'm using Access 2010.

Tables do not have any real order. The order you enter things will likely not be the way it displays. You should always force an order
1)you can base the form on a query with an order by clause
2)you can set the forms "order by" property in design view or code.

Thanks MajP - I based the form on a query and the problem has disappeared.
