I have an older laptop and would like to display a video file on a TV. I have a RCA video out of the laptop and there is a software setting to switch the video output from the monitor to the video out port. When I do this, the video is not the same resolution as the TV so I have to reduce the size to see the whole picture on the TV. Is there any way to change the resolution of the output so that full screen on the monitor is full screen on the TV?

i believe most tv default are either 640x480 or 800x600, you would need to resize your vid to those same res.

As long as you get it down to 800x600 or lower, it should show fine on your TV. Some video card drivers (such as Nvidia's GeForce FX) allows you to set even lower resolutions. You should look under your card's advanced settings.

Remember, because a TV's resolution is even less than 640x480, you aren't going to be able to read text well. However, video should look just fine at full screen.
