I have a end of year leave reconciliation report that is causing me some issues.

I have a field from one data source that I have exported to an access table...Pay End Date, I calculated Pay end-13 to get Pay begin date.I only want to see the effective dates (from another data source, and table, also in Access) tha fall between the pay begin and pay end when grouping by pay end, then employee ID.

I know this is simple, but for the life of me I cannot get there this morning. (Miller Lite induced dementia?)

In Crystal 8.5, you can use a suppression formula on the detail section. Right-click, [Format Section...] and the button to the right of suppress. Then apply your test.

For totals, use a running total with the same test.

Does this solve it?

If you can't apply join conditions that are of the "less than" and "greater than" than apply these conditions in the record selection formula. This means you should have no date join between the 1st table and the 2nd and hence "record inflation" (and a performance hit).

Basically, each record in the 1st table will be joined to each record in the 2nd table but the record selection formula will throw out all records except those WHERE date in the 2nd table is between the start_date and end_date you compute for each record in the 1st table.

Of course, the same thing can be done using a subquery...
