Displaying Information on the Desktop

On our network I would like to display on the desktop at the bottom right of the screen the PC's equipment number and IP address irresepective of the wallpaper choosen. For example 7555 / 56.
Is this a reg hack thing or something else. Most Workstations are XP Pro.

You might want to post in a NT/XP forum, this is for Extreme Networks equipment.
