I am brand new to flash and am working on my first movie still very much a newbie with that said
2 questions

1) how big should a flash movie be for quick downloading I know that there are no set rules but any sugestions?? My movie is currently 104 kb's

2)I want to be able to display the current frame # as my movie plays

my movie has a total of 156 frames

So in other words I would like to have a counter that starts at 1 and ends ends at 156 and increments by one as the movie displays each frame

thnaks in advance for any responces

place a dynamic text box on stage and give it a variable name , counter say

on main timeline

_root.onEnterFrame = function (){
counter = _currentframe;
}

with regard to size thats a matter for your target audience and the type of connection they have. what is fine for cable may be too slow a download for a dial up. always best to keep file size to a minimum and load as much from external sourses as possible.

thanks for the reply could explain what you mean by external sources?

difficult to be precise without knowing what your objectives are for the site.

however as rule of thumb

keep sound, images, and dynamic text outside the swf and load them in dynamically as and when needed.

instead of one large fla have several smaller ones and a menu system that will load these files in when the user requests them.
