Display Suddenly Gone Dark

My display has suddenly got a lot darker, and the issue is not with my monitor. I have also noticed that white areas on an image have become smudged with black. This happens right from the BIOS splash image and throughout XP. I have tried reloading drivers but this has not helped. Should I consider buying a new Video Card.

What type of monitor is it, and how can you be so sure it is NOT the monitor? Have you tried the PC with another monitor?

If it happens right from the bios splash screen when you get video. sounds like monitor.

1. Have you tried monitor on anaother pc?
2. Have you tried another monitor on your pc?

IF LCD screen, chances are the backlight has gone. Time for a new one!
