Display subsites on parent site after upgrade does not work

looking for a way to display subsites on parent site after upgrade to WSS 3.0. instead of adding them manually.

after installing WSS 3.0 I have added WSS 2.0 database with stsadm utility
after upgrade new subsite shows up on quick launch but sites from wss 2.0 do not show.
