Hi,

I have an intermittent problem. Running a quadro fx 3450 with a widescreen monitor at 1680x1050. latest drivers on xp pro.

once in a while and seemingly not because of any trigger, screen display is squished into upper portion (so task bar is in middle and images are halfres), lower area is black and dead space.

this can only be fixed on reboot. i reinstalled the drivers. this is killign my project and any help would be great!

Make sure the monitor's cable is securely connected, and reseat the video card making sure it's firmly seated.
If those are ok, then check if the monitor and the video card have both analog and digital ports. If they do and the digital ports are being used, then try the analog ports, or vice-versa.
If no luck, then see if your monitor works on another system, or a different monitor works on your system. If no to the former, or yes to the latter, then your monitor may be bad. If yes to the former, or no to the latter, then your video card may be the cause.

Are you sure that the monitor can handle 1650 x 1050 properly? At what vertical sync frequency is it working? I'm just wondering if your monitor isn't tracking one every two vsyncs, because it is working on the borderline, and then tries to size itself versus this half frequency. Can you program your video card to have a lower vertical sync frequency?
