display sets go blank/dark 1

I have various display sets that go blank or dark. I have to unplug and plug back in the set for the display to come up.

it is an intermittant problem

not the same sets all time

the problem seems to be across all digital line cards.

sometimes the displays go blank on several sets, other times up to a dozen sets are affected.

sometimes the problem will not happen for a couple of months

The blank displays does NOT affect call handling...the user can still make and receive calls

I have an Option 61c with OTM

any thoughts on what adjusts i can make in the switch?
 
i replace the set if it happens more then once

I would replace the sets but the problem is that the blank displays have happened to every set connected to the switch at one time or another.

would it be in the call registers?

 
Go to LD 32 and disable and enable the set, then see if you can IDU the set. May be a bad TN port or cabling issue.
 
Ignore my suggestion... I didn't notice this was happening on multiple phones.
 
Grounding issue I bet... might be if it's all the sets.. look there 1st

Hey JP....Myself and one other take care of all our county offices (15 switches tandemed off our 81). My title just happens to be a management title, I would guess to keep us ouit of the union. Anyways, I'm a tech just like you....not real fond of managers and such. I've said it a million times, mangers are the wart on progresses ass! Too indecisive, and afaid to make a decision whithout 2 or 3 other managers to concurr! Now I feel better!
 
i installed 2 switches for counties, lots of site lots of remotes tied to a lot remote single line.. a few norstars in the mix.. pretty decent jobs.. each had an 81c with 10 or more opt 11 style remotes... great jobs because we used fiber to replace miles of copper..

Yeah, were just about complete with fiber upgrades. Our infrastructure guru if you will , is not the most motivated individual here at the county, so the fiber is taking a little longer. It is a fun job though, and everyday presents new obstacles! Especially if we need new infrastructure installed...
 
We had a batch of 2616s that do that. I think they were refurbs. If you don't want to walk out on the floor to reset the phone you can disable and enable the card.
