display screens?

We are running scripts on our new server (2000) that worked fine on our old one. They still work fine, the issue is that our old server would display the current step in the script. For instance if we called an access database, the db would open on the screen in front of us when it came to that step. Our new server runs everything in the background. We don't want that. How do we get the windows to pop up at each call of a program?
