Display PDF without acrobat? (rather without all the options?)

I have an intranet application that needs to display a PDF for "visual guidance" to the end user but shouldn't open up in an embedded acrobat because we want to prevent the users from doing standard things like printing or saving the PDF directly (there are adobe lifecycle server functions for this stuff).

I do have the ability to install an active X control on all user's PC's for deployment.

Another options is if I could somehow lock down the acrobat plugin that allows saving/printing etc...

PS> I'm using Acrobat 8.X on the pc's.

1st, I would start with Adobe support since it's their product.

I'm not an expert in PDF formatting options. but i would assume that if selective functionality could be stored in the document it would be configured at the time of creation, not when the file is opened.

if this is true. then you will need to configure these options before opening the pdf to stream to user. it will also most likely require the acrobat api to configure the file.

if this is not possible then you would need to use code on the client (activeX most likely) to limit the abilities of acrobat/reader.
