How do you display a Word or PowerPoint document without it opening up a separate window outside of the web.

I want it (I don't know if this is the right word) embedded. When you click the word doc link it changes the current page to what appears to be MS.Word, but its inside the html page just like you see so often with Adobe's PDF's.

I have spent many, many hours searching in the internet in vain for such information.
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer.

Open My Computer.
On the Tools menu click Folder Options.
Click the File Types tab.
In the Registered file types list, click the specific Office document type (for example, Microsoft PowerPoint), and then click Advanced (or click Edit).
In the Edit File Type dialog box, click to check the "Browse in same window" check box
Click OK.

There is misunderstanding.

I am talking about viewing it from a website (no just me, anyone). I want it to open within the IE window and not open up with Powerpoint.

I understand - but this is not an option you have control over - it's handled by the clients computer. There is no way for you to change this behaviour remotely.

why is it then that some webpages allow MS Word,Adobe PDF or MS Powerpoint documents to dosplay within the IE window and other sites have it open the actual program to display the docuemnt.

It may be how they are streaming the document - do you have an example? However, if I have my system setup to not display Office documents in IE, there's no way for a web site to force it to happen.

I see what you mean. I can't locate the few examples I have ran across many moons ago.

Thanks anyway.
