Display message during ftp upload

Hi again.
I am wondering if I can display somekind of loading message whilst uploading big files over ftp.

I looks a bit unkind when the screen stays blank until the script is done.

use javascript to change the page on a form.submit() action.

Please tell me more about this?
Use JS to display a warning box "This may take a while"?
Or use JS to do something else?

It would be coolest to actually get the connection speed, the file size and guess the time it will take and than have a countdown or percentage complete thing....

But that is something I only know of in flash....
Any ideas?

After my own reply to this post I suddenly had the urge to search on google and found the url above..

It seems to be a solution to having a process bar for php FTP uploads....
